BILLY Joel has rescheduled his current tour following surgery for a medical condition, with the Edinburgh Murrayfield show postponed for a whole year.
The piano man has also rescheduled seven other shows, including one at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.
The 75-year-old is currently recovering from a recent surgery and, after undergoing physical therapy under medical supervision, is expected to make a full recovery.
The singer took a tumble at the tour’s last show in Connecticut though seemingly recovered on stage, but it is unknown whether this fall relates to his recent surgery.
As the only Scottish date in the tour, and one of two UK shows, the Edinburgh concert has been rescheduled from June 7 this year, to June 6, 2026.
It will be the first time the singer has performed in the Scottish capital in 47 years, with his last show here in Usher Hall in 1979, when grand circle tickets cost just £4.
Tickets now, however, could set you back up to £625 and due to demand, the best views reached around £500 when they were released last year, though they started at £89.30 on Ticketmaster.
All purchased tickets will be valid for the next show, and refunds can be requested from the point of purchase, though policies of individual ticket distributors should be consulted.
Ticketmaster offers refunds for rescheduled and cancelled events, though other marketplaces such as Viagogo do not provide refunds for postponed shows.
Billy Joel’s social media team posted yesterday, saying: “Billy Joel’s upcoming concert dates will be rescheduled due to a medical condition.
“The current tour will be postponed for four months to allow him to recover from recent surgery and to undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors.
“Joel is expected to make a full recovery. The tour will resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5, 2025.”
The Uptown Girl singer said: “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first.
“I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans.
“Thank you for your understanding.”
