
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Basketball’s biggest stars, tons of celebrities and thousands of fans from across the globe are expected to descend upon the Bay Area as San Francisco plays host to the NBA All-Star Game weekend, starting on Valentine’s Day, Fri. Feb. 14.
The game itself, now in its 74th iteration, will take place on Sun, Feb. 16. Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, LeBron James of the LA Lakers, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves are some of the big names who will be in the game.
If you plan on bouncing around this weekend, there will be a series of street closures and reroutes to keep in mind when traveling around the city.
The San Francisco Municipal Transit Agency (SFMTA) confirmed that the more heavily impacted areas will be around the Moscone and Chase centers.
If you’re heading to Moscone Center, the following streets will be closed from 6 a.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday:
- Howard Street between Third (3rd) and Fourth (4th) streets
- Third Street between Howard and Folsom streets in the westernmost lane only
- Fourth Street between Howard and Folsom streets in the easternmost lane only
- Folsom Street between 3rd and 4th streets in the northernmost travel lane and parking lane only
- From 6 a.m. Friday to 12 p.m. Sunday, commuters will not be able to access Minna Street between New Montgomery and 3rd streets.

If you’re heading to Chase Center, the following streets are impacted by closures:
Happening now until 11:59 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17:
- 16th Street between 3rd and Terry A. Francois Boulevard
- Warriors Way between 3rd and Bridgeview Way
- Terry A. Francois Boulevard between 16th and Mission Bay Boulevard South in the southbound traffic lanes only
From 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14 until the end of the event on Sunday, Feb. 16:
- Terry A. Francois Boulevard between 16th and Warriors Way
From 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14 until the end of the event on Sunday, Feb. 16:
- 3rd Street between 16th and Warriors Way in the northbound traffic lanes only
From 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14 until the end of the event on Sunday, Feb. 16:
- Illinois Street between 16th and Mariposa

If you’re heading to Pier 48 (located south of Oracle Park), the following streets are closed from 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, to 2 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17:
- Mission Rock between 3rd and Terry A. Francois Boulevard
- Toni Stone Crossing between 3rd and Terry A. Francois Boulevard
- Terry A. Francois Boulevard between Mission Rock and Toni Stone Crossing

Muni to run additional service
The SFMTA announced that it has added extra shuttle service on the T Third Street Line between Chinatown-Rose Pak Station and Chase Center/Mission Bay from Friday to Sunday to help handle the expected increase in riders.
SFMTA said the 15 Bayview Hunters Point Express, 22 Fillmore, and 78X 16th Street Arena Express routes will have reroutes in the Mission Bay area.

Commuters should also be aware that the Chinese Lunar New Year Parade takes place on Saturday, starting at 5:15 p.m. at Market and Second streets. Thousands of people are expected to turn up for the event.
