3 in Sudbury charged in deaths of puppies found in landfill last spring | CBC News

Police in the Sudbury area have arrested and charged three people from Atikameksheng Anishnawbek around 10 months after some dead puppies were discovered in a landfill in the area.

In a news release, Ontario Provincial Police said several dead puppies were found in a recycling bin at a landfill site on Reserve Road, in Atikameksheng First Nation, on April 14.

The OPP worked with the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek Police Service on the investigation and arrested three people — a 50-year-old woman, 33-year-old man and 28-year-old man. They’ve been charged with cruelty to animals causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury.

Police said the 28-year-old failed to show up at a court appearance on Thursday and there is now a warrant out for his arrest.
