Regina’s Mark McMorris racks up another X-Games medal to continue most decorated athlete record | CBC News

Three-time Olympic medalist Mark McMorris stomped his final trick at the 2025 Winter X-Games competition, landing a backside 1620 to secure his silver medal.

On Saturday afternoon in Aspen, Colo., the snowboarder originally from Regina battled it out against competitors from around the world in the men’s snowboard slope-style event, which consists of three rail features, followed by three large jumps.

McMorris’ final run wasn’t quite enough to edge out the American 2018 Olympic gold medallist Red Gerard, who took gold. Japan’s Taiga Hasegawa landed in third place for the bronze.

The silver for the 31-year-old adds to a large collection — 24 total now. He is the most decorated athlete in Winter X-Games history.

His brother Craig, also a part of the commentary team for the games and former medallist, was called up last minute for the street-style event, but was bumped out in the first heat.
