Man fighting for his life after ‘machete fight’ as cops hunt attacker

A MAN suffered catastrophic injuries after a machete fight in central London.

Oxford Street descended into chaos in the early hours of New Year’s Day after two men were caught squaring off with the large knives.

Cops were called to the busy thoroughfare just after 3am following reports of the violent altercation.

One man suffered what paramedics described as a catastrophic bleed and was rushed to a trauma centre.

Police said no arrests have been made after launching a manhunt.

A large crime scene was established as officers conducted a forensic examination of the area – with Bond Street Tube station closed.

A witness at the scene said: “It was terrifying—people were screaming and running. The area was swarming with police and paramedics within minutes.”

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made so far, and they are working to trace the individuals involved.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called to Oxford Street at 3:05 a.m. to reports of a fight involving machetes. One man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“A crime scene remains in place, and our enquiries are ongoing.”

Authorities are appealing for anyone with information, mobile phone footage, or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward immediately.

Further updates are expected as the investigation develops.
