SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — If you’re planning to spend the Fourth of July outdoors, you’re in luck — San Diego is set to enjoy classic summer weather with sunshine, mild temperatures, and clear skies by evening, perfect for fireworks celebrations across the county.
According to local forecasts, coastal neighborhoods will wake up to the familiar marine layer Friday morning, with temperatures hovering in the mid-60s. The clouds are expected to gradually lift by late morning, making way for mostly sunny skies by the early afternoon.
By midday, temperatures will rise into the mid-70s along the coast, with inland areas seeing warmer highs in the 80s. Beaches are expected to remain breezy and pleasant, while popular outdoor spots like Balboa Park and Mission Bay should see excellent conditions for barbecues and gatherings.
For those celebrating Independence Day in the region’s desert areas, be sure to stay hydrated as temperatures could peak several degrees above 100. For instance, areas like Borrego Springs and Ocotillo Wells could feel temperatures around 106 degrees on Friday.
Here’s a look at forecast highs across the county on the Fourth of July, according to the National Weather Service:

As the sun sets and fireworks shows begin, temperatures will dip into the mid to upper 60s for the coast. Forecasters say the weather could be partly cloudy in the evening hours. Fingers crossed that this doesn’t obstruct visibility for the Big Bay Boom and other displays throughout the region.
There are no rain or thunderstorm threats in the forecast, and humidity levels are expected to remain moderate thanks to ocean influence, weather officials noted.
Happy Independence Day, San Diego.
