AI and toddlers help care home land dementia award nods

Oaklands Rest Home has been named a finalist in two categories of the Dementia Care Awards, which are recognised nationally.

The categories include Intergenerational Activity and Assistive Technology for People Living with Dementia.

The nominations recognise the home’s regular sessions with a toddler group and the use of new technology for dementia patients, including AI pain monitoring and digital care plans.

An Oaklands Rest Home spokesperson said: “By integrating smart tools into everyday care, Oaklands enhances safety, personalisation, and wellbeing—empowering staff and enriching life for residents living with dementia.”

The spokesperson went on to say the recognition reflected the “culture” of the care home, where “innovation, connection and person-centred care” are at the heart of daily life.

They added: “The home continues to invest in meaningful experiences and forward-thinking approaches that enhance the lives of residents living with dementia.”
