RiNo rhino statue finalist names announced

DENVER (KDVR) — On May 30, joint venture partners Golub & Company and FORMATIV put together a campaign, “Name the Rhino,” that asked the public to name the newly established statue located at the Denargo Market.

“We’re so excited to invite the community to be part of this story and help us give this iconic rhino a name that reflects the character and creativity of Denver,” said Laura Newman, Vice President of Investment & Development at Golub & Company, in a press release. “Our goal with both the rhino and the public realm was to create a true sense of place here at Denargo Market, and we hope this becomes a beloved landmark for neighbors, families and visitors.”

The Name the Rhino campaign said it would allow people to do a free-for-all voting poll, and from the names mentioned, choose the most popular, then put those into a list of finalist names.

The preliminary round of voting left a group of five names, including:

  • Rhingo
  • Rosey
  • Roxy
  • Rusty
  • Spike

This is the list of names that the public can vote on to name the 30-foot-tall and 22,000-pound, climbable statue.

The names can be voted on until June 11.

On June 12, the name with the most votes accumulated will be presented by Councilman Darrell Watson.

More information on the statue and the voting process can be found on the Denargo Market website.
