(KRON) — A motorcyclist died after sustaining injuries from “three other passing vehicles” when he was ejected during a crash in Livermore on early Tuesday, said the California Highway Patrol Dublin Area office.
CHP said its officers responded at 2:40 a.m. to a fatal crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 580 eastbound, east of Airway Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim was riding a Yamaha motorcycle when he was thrown during a collision into the Number 5 lane. It is not yet clear what led to the crash.

“For reasons still under investigation, the Yamaha motorcycle was involved in a crash, at which time, the motorcycle rider was ejected from the motorcycle,” said CHP. “The motorcycle rider came to rest in the #6 lane of eastbound traffic and was impacted by three other passing vehicles. The motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased on the scene from his injuries.”
It has not been determined if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the incident.
Witnesses or those with information about the crash are encouraged to contact Officer J. Garcia at (925) 828-0466.
