Padres, Dodgers managers involved in shoving match after Tatis hit by pitch

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego and Los Angeles rivalry heated up Thursday at Dodger Stadium.

During the top of the ninth inning, Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. was up to bat when he was hit by a pitch from Dodgers pitcher Jack Little.

Tatis fell to the ground in pain while Padres manager Mike Shildt made his way toward the umpire. That’s when Dodgers manager Dave Roberts also took the field, causing both benches to clear.

Shildt had some words for Roberts who reacted by shoving Shildt.

Both teams worked to break up the scuffle between Shildt and Roberts. Both continued to jaw at one another even after they were separated.

Then in the bottom of the ninth inning, Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani was hit by Padres closer Robert Suarez. As a result, Suarez was ejected from the game.

Despite the chaos, the Padres came out victorious in a 5-3 win.

The incident comes after Tatis and Ohtani were both hit by pitches in Tuesday’s game. Roberts was ejected after arguing on the field. The Dodgers won that game 8-6.

Tatis’ status is unknown at this time.

The Padres next game is Friday at home against the Kansas City Royals.
