Russia and Ukraine exchanged hundreds of prisoners of war in the latest swap brokered by the United Arab Emirates. Video filmed by RFE/RL’s Ukrainian Service shows emotional reunions between freed prisoners and their loved ones. The April 19 exchange saw 277 Ukrainian POWs return home, according to Kyiv, while Moscow says it received
246 service members. In total, more than 3,000 prisoners have been swapped through UAE-mediated exchanges since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.
