2025 AMAs: Queer artists Billie Eilish, Doechii and more sweep top categories

The 2025 AMAs have been and gone, and with it has brought a new series of queer nominees-turned-winners, including Billie Eilish, Doechii, and more. Here are all the LGBTQ+ winners from the American Music Awards 2025.

Despite some of the major LGBTQ+ music icons losing out on awards – Chappell Roan didn’t win a single one of her seven American Music Award nominations, while other queer stars including Kehlani were snubbed – other queer artists walked away with awards.

It’s hardly an understatement to say that Billie Eilish swept the floor at the AMAs. The “Birds of a Feather” hitmaker walked away with seven awards this year, including the coveted Artist of the Year award. The singer was unable to accept her awards in person, though, as she is currently on tour in Europe.

Eilish surpassed the likes of fellow nominees Roan, Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, Morgan Wallen, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Zach Bryan, and even Taylor Swift. The singer-songwriter also picked up Album of the Year for Hit Me Hard and Soft, Song of the Year and Favourite Pop Song with “Birds of a Feather”, Favourite Touring Artist, Favourite Female Pop Artist, and Favourite Pop Album.

With two nominations to her name this year, out queer, bisexual rapper Doechii bagged the award for Social Song of the Year with “Anxiety”. Her standout track became a viral sensation on TikTok after an iconic dance scene from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air made a resurgence with the song.

Staunch LGBTQ+ allies, including Megan Thee Stallion, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, are also AMAs 2025 award-winners. The “Body” hitmaker walked away with the Favourite Female Hip-Hop Artist award, the Cowboy Carter album creator won Favourite Female Country Artist and Favourite Country Album, while Gaga won three of her six nominations.

Elsewhere on the night, gay icon Janet Jackson was honoured with the Icon Award and delivered her first live TV performance in seven years.
