NEWS10's Steve Caporizzo throws out first pitch at ValleyCats game

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Chief Meteorologist Steve Caporizzo threw out the first pitch of the Tri-City ValleyCats game at Joe Bruno Stadium on Wednesday. NEWS10 and Broadview Federal Credit Union were at the game supporting our No Neighbor Hungry campaign.

Cap threw out the first pitch with Broadview Chief Community Officer Kathy Lanni. You can watch the throw in the video player above. Cap is set to retire from forecasting the weather on NEWS10 on June 30 but he’ll still be doing Pet Connection.

NEWS10 teamed up with Broadview to help stock food pantries in our area for the No Neighbor Hungry campaign. Demand on local food pantries is at an all-time high with some pantries reporting a staggering 45% increase in costs to stock the shelves.

Wednesday was Hot Dog Appreciation Night at Joe Bruno Stadium. Those who made a donation or brought a non-perishable food item for the No Neighbor Hungry campaign that night received a voucher for a free hot dog. Broadview was at The Joe with their Giving for Good Van and was working to Stuff the CDTA Trolley with donations.

With your help, we can put food in the hands of people who need it most. NEWS10 and Broadview are raising funds for the No Neighbor Hungry campaign through Wednesday, July 2, and Broadview will match the first $200,000!
