
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Tuesday formed the Pakistan Women Tennis Association (PWTA) in an effort to expand women’s tennis pool.
Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has consistently championed the cause of women’s tennis in the country. The office-bearers of the PWTA include Ms. Asma Khawar Khawaja (President), Mrs. Zaira Ahmad Zaka (Secretary General), Ms. Sara Ibrahim Khan (Treasurer).
Aisam expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “I am very happy to witness the formation of Pakistan’s first women tennis association. As the president of PTF, one of my primary objectives was to establish a dedicated body to promote women’s tennis and I am proud to see it become a reality. The PWTA will serve as a vital platform for the growth of women’s participation in tennis nationwide.”
Asma Khawar Khawaja extended her gratitude to the president PTF and outlined her vision, saying, “I would like to thank Mr. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi for making this vision a reality. Inshallah, PWTA will play a pivotal role in promoting and uplifting women’s tennis across Pakistan. We have already initiated discussions and plan to launch weekly training camps for the girls in cities across the country.”
