Police shut off Leven Bank, between Yarm and Ingleby Barwick, this evening (Wednesday, May 14) following a crash shortly after 8pm.
The incident saw Leven Bank Road blocked off from the A1044 roundabout on the Yarm side to the Ingleby Barwick side of Leven Bridge.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has confirmed that it sent one ambulance crew to the scene and took one person to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
Their current condition remains unknown.
Cleveland Fire Brigade sent two fire engines to the incident, where firefighters made the scene safe before leaving at 8.29pm.
Motorists were being turned around by police just before the bridge, where a police car was parked horizontally across the road beside a blue road closed sign.
A fire service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.09pm to Leven Bank Road to reports of a road traffic collision.
“Two fire engines were sent to the scene to reports of a car colliding with a telephone pole. Crews made the scene safe and left at 8.29pm.”
A NEAS spokesperson said: “We were called to a road traffic incident tonight (May 14) at 8.07pm on Leven Bank Road in Yarm.
“We dispatched one ambulance crew and one patient was taken to James Cook University Hospital.”
